I am a life long cub fan and former professional baseball player in the USA, Sweden and Germany. Currently, I coach/play and am marketing the Gefle (Gavle) Flaming Goats of Sweden. The team derives its nickname form its 3.5 tonne straw Christmas Goat that has been burned for the past 30 years…This year we will save it and give it a proper Viking burial in the sea off the coast of Gavle.
We are tryin to end the curse of the billy goat for the Cubs… We would like to use some of the pictures and stories about “Murphy” and Sam.
Sweden produces many excellent hockey players as this years Blackhawks have 5 players from Sweden on the roster as they did with both stanley cup championship teams. Our baseball team has some excellent athletes and we are hoping to get a couple ‘kids” signed by the Cubs. We will be offering up our sacrifices, time, money, travel, practices in cold weather to make the bad hops, good hops and control the uncontrollable things that have controlled the cubs destiny since — well — since they tossed the goat. i also have a team in Berlin that is also interested in helping ending the curse but Gavle or Gefle has the big straw goat so I think there is a great tie in and the gefle flaming Goats are a real special team.
